There are two additional methods that can be used in all versions for importing a bitmap file (*. See this documentation for more detailed information: The Help menu Whats new in Altium Designer link to the New Features page of the wiki. Once all options are finalized, click OK to complete the placement. Schematic Library report images will now be correctly sized.
#Image altium designer 14 software
I don't have the software to try that on my computer. However, you would need to convert whatever art you want to insert onto the PCB into a vector format, and then to a DXF/ DWG file.

If you do that, it may be possible to get the behaviour you want (pull-back from existing art). I think that, theoretically, it should be possible to define a polygon using a 2D DXF or DWG file. I wound up having to reduce the image to black & white, and ~150*100 pixels to make it manageable.

The fully-managed project can then benefit from the servers native VCS features, such as the event-based History timeline. Trying to do anything (even simply dragging) to the image primitive basically caused Altium to lock up and become unresponsive, and after a few minutes, I killed the process. Altium Designer now offers the ability to migrate projects that use an external VCS system to a fully-managed Altium server project that hosts the design files in the servers own Git repository. Later note: I tried to get the above image into a actual PCB, and had no luck. The original artwork was only 440*400 pixels, so it seems smaller images are a very good idea. It's worth noting that the above picture made my processor absolutely crap it's pants (And I'm using a fast Core i7, so it's not a lack of available CPU.). I suspect it requires you have MS Office installed, and I use LibreOffice instead.
#Image altium designer 14 how to
The kind of exclusionary silkscreen pour you're asking for in the question is a cool idea, but as far as I know Altium doesn't have the facilities for doing that.Īnyways, the Altium documentation has a pretty good workup on how to add images to various layers.Īlso, it's supposedly possible to paste various types of content (images, MS Word charts, etc.) directly into a PCB, but I was not able to get that functionality to work for me.
